The live album The Empire 1998 contains Townshend's version of North Country with a synth string arrangement that is very reminiscent of the version on Valentine. Townshend introduces the song as follows:
"Roy Harper is back on the road... When I first heard Roy's version of North Country Girl, he reminded me that Bob Dylan adapted this song, he made it his own of course, but it's song that emanated from the north of England, it's about the border country. And it's called North Country Girl."
