I co-ran this club during its short life (about 2 months) and we booked Roy, Al Stewart, The Incredible String Band, Wizz Jones and Clive Palmer, The Young Tradition and one or two others I can no longer remember. It's quite possible that I still owe Roy his £10 fee!

I went to the gig at the Manchester College of Commerce in May 1969 (the night that Pink Floyd recorded the live part of Ummagumma). There were many other acts on including Roy playing late at night in what must have been a classroom until we were all thrown out by a janitor who said he had to get the room ready for an exam the next morning! Roy simply walked out of the room with his guitar in his hand, saying "follow me" and carried on playing in another room.

Roy did an unscheduled slot at the first Bath Festival of Blues and progressive music in a sports ground in Bath itself, performing I Hate the White Man and Hell's Angels. Same bill included Led Zeppelin, The Nice, Fleetwood Mac etc. As I remember, he got a mixed response as a lot of people weren't familiar with his music and found White Man uncomfortable.
