RC car races

I have been driving RC cars since 1986. I have raced in club races and on Finnish national level around the country in the late 1980s/early 1990s, and also again since 2019.

Below is an incomplete list from latest to oldest.

2026-09-19, Finnish National Series (Äänekoski). M2-10 class with B6.2D, 8.5T brushless motor. Position 25th out of 26. This was the biggest race of the series, so expectations were high. However, I didn't like the track profile at all so driving was a bit of a struggle. Jumps were dominating and personally I don't think that is what buggy driving is about. Anyway, my final 2026 series ranking was 12th out of 31, a big improvement compared to the previous year.
2026-08-22, Finnish National Series (Vaasa). M2-10 class with B6.2D, 8.5T brushless motor. Position 21st out of 22. First time in years there was a C main and some cool tough driving. Weather was perfect, and also the professional setting of the Vaasa track is always impressive.
2026-07-25, Finnish National Series (Joensuu). M2-10 class with B6.2D, 8.5T brushless motor. Position 14th out of 14. One of my favourite tracks and locations ever, and it was a cool racing day.
2026-06-27, Finnish National Series (Oulu). M2-10 class with B6.2D, 8.5T brushless motor. Position 9th out of 10. This was a small race but personally I liked it as there was some really tough competition between 9th and 10th car. Driving alone is always boring (whether you are winning or losing), but duels are always exciting and this time there was a pretty good one.
2026-02-28, Fullspeed RC Offroad Racing Series (Hakkila, Vantaa). S-10 class with RC10 with Shining Star chassis and Stealth gearbox, 13.5T brushless motor. Position 41st out of 42. This was a poor season for me as I was able to drive only a single race. But it was fun. The final 2025-2026 series ranking was 68th out of 68.
2025-08-23, Finnish National Series (Vaasa). V2-10 class with RC10 with Shining Star chassis and Stealth gearbox, 13.5T brushless motor. Position 4th out of 4; M2-10 class with B6.2D, 8.5T brushless motor. This was the first race on the brand new turf track - while I miss the clay tracks, this track was still cool and OK. Position 20th out of 20. Final 2025 series ranking was 20th out of 25.
2025-06-29, Finnish National Series (Joensuu). M2-10 class with B6.2D, 8.5T brushless motor. Position 18th out of 19.
2025-04-26, Fullspeed RC Offroad Racing Series (Hakkila, Vantaa). S2-10 class with RC10 with Shining Star chassis and Stealth gearbox, 13.5T brushless motor. Position 29th out of 30.
2025-02-23, Fullspeed RC Offroad Racing Series (Hakkila, Vantaa). S2-10 class with RC10 with Shining Star chassis and Stealth gearbox, 13.5T brushless motor. Position 30th out of 30.
2024-12-14, Fullspeed RC Offroad Racing Series (Hakkila, Vantaa). S2-10 class with RC10 with Shining Star chassis and Stealth gearbox, 13.5T brushless motor. Position 30th out of 30.
2024-11-16, Fullspeed RC Offroad Racing Series (Hakkila, Vantaa). S2-10 class with RC10 with Shining Star chassis and Stealth gearbox, 13.5T brushless motor. Position 29th out of 29.
2024-10-26, Fullspeed RC Offroad Racing Series (Hakkila, Vantaa). S2-10 class with RC10 with Shining Star chassis and Stealth gearbox, 13.5T brushless motor. Position 29th out of 30.
2024-09-28, Fullspeed RC Offroad Racing Series (Hakkila, Vantaa). S2-10 class with RC10 World's Car re-release, 13.5T brushless motor. Position 35th out of 35.
2024-09-15, Finnish National Series (Äänekoski). M2-10 class with B6.2D, 8.5T brushless motor. Position 19th out of 20. Final 2024 series ranking was 24th out of 24. This was a poor season for me as I was able to drive only a single race.
2024-03-15, Fullspeed RC Offroad Racing Series (Hakkila, Vantaa). S2-10 class with RC10 World's Car re-release, 13.5T brushless motor. Position 26th out of 27. Met JQ and got an autograph on his Invisible Speed book. My final ranking in the 2023-2024 season was 15th out of 43.
2023-10-28, Fullspeed RC Offroad Racing Series (Hakkila, Vantaa). S2-10 class with RC10 World's Car re-release, 13.5T brushless motor. Position 11th out of 11.
2023-09-30, Fullspeed RC Offroad Racing Series (Hakkila, Vantaa). S2-10 class with RC10 with Shining Star chassis and Stealth gearbox, 13.5T brushless motor. Position 10th out of 10.
2023-08-26, Finnish National Series (Kuopio). M2-10 class with B6.2D, 8.5T brushless motor; and V2-10 class with RC10 World's Car re-release, 9.5T brushless motor. Position 13th out of 13 (M2-10) and 2nd out of 3 (V2-10). Final 2023 series ranking 9th out of 21 (M2-10) and 2nd out of 3 (V2-10).
2023-08-06, Finnish National Series (Oulu). M2-class with B6.2D, 8.5T brushless motor. Position 10th out of 11. Racing day started with techical problems with my 1:1 car as the thermostat blew up and engine overheated 1 km before the race track - I got my car to the track with some help by kind local villagers. The RC race itself went nicely. For the trip back to home, Oulu RC club kindly supplied me with some extra coolant water for my leaking Citroen C5 I and also got home OK. Phew!
2023-07-01, Finnish National Series (Kuopio). M2-class with B6.2D, 8.5T brushless motor. Position 12th out of 12. The turf track was soaked and flooded in the morning (due to night rains) and the race was about to be cancelled. But in the end we cleaned the track with buckets and shovels and the race started 1-2 h late - in the end it was fun and tough racing. Turf stayed partly slippery throughout the day but that only added to the excitement.
2023-06-10, Finnish National Series (Vaasa). M2-class with B6.2D, 8.5T brushless motor. Position 11th out of 11. A small race, so they decided to put all 11 drivers in the A-main! It was tough but fun, basically my main focus was to give room for cars constantly overtaking me by a lap or two. This was the last national race on the superb clay track. Too bad they had to give it up.

2020-10-17, Finnish National Series (Hakkila, Vantaa). M2-class with B6.2D, 8.5T brushless motor. Amidst the worst CoVid isolation times, the national series was shrink to a single race. It was also the first national level race I had done since 1990s. If we were all going to die, then why not race? In the end it was a thrilling day, and I got my initial national ranking for the decade: 25th out of 25.
2020-10-03, Fullspeed RC Offroad Racing Series (Hakkila, Vantaa). M2-class with B6.2D, 8.5T brushless motor. Position 25th out of 25. Since no vintage racing were not seen to come anymore, I had acquired and built a modern RC car. This means I also have to race with it. It was a fun experience, and also got me addicted to modern RC cars.
2020-02-01, Fullspeed RC Offroad Racing Series (Hakkila, Vantaa). Vintage class with RC10 and 13.5T brushless motor. This was my 2nd race in vintage and I was driving again an old genuine car, this time with Houge trailing arms and carbon chassis. Unfortunately the participants had dropped, and my position maybe 5th out of 5 (official results have gone missing). This was early days of Covid when a huge decline was early seen coming to this hobby.
2019-11-16, Fullspeed RC Offroad Racing Series (Hakkila, Vantaa). Vintage class with RC10 and 13.5T brushless motor. Can't find the exact results anymore but I was maybe 6th out of 6 vintage drivers (it was a very small class, single heat). It was my first race in decades (I was hesitating but thanks to a phone call from a fellow club mate I got inspired), and exciting as hell, and basically I just got to learn the modern racing day and heat format. I was driving my 30 year old RC10 (gold pan, A&L trailing arms) with 27 Mhz crystal radio, which the announcer found amusing.
